Why Smoking Should Be Banned ?

Topic : Why Smoking Should be Banned In Public Places in Indonesia?

Smoking is a practice where a substance, most commonly tobacco, is burned and the smoke tasted or inhaled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki / smoking_files). According to the latest research done by World Health Organization, Indonesia is the third biggest population of smoking in the world. Everyday, over 1.172 people in Indonesia die because of smoking (Demography of University Indonesia: 2008). Smoking is an expensive habit and it should be banned. Although smokers claim that it helps them to relax and release stress, the negative aspects of the habit outweigh the positive. Smoking everywhere including in public places such as in shops, restaurants and malls is prohibited. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. For years people have been smoking in public thinking 'it's my body, I can do whatever I want to do it,' but now that it has been proven that smoking not only harms the smoker, but also those around him or her, they should not be allowed to smoke around other people in public. Smoking in public places causes a considerable amount of harm to people and the government should be doing more to protect its citizens.
This essay will convey the idea that smoking is dangerous for both active and passive smoker so that it should be banned in the public places in Indonesia. Then, the essay will analyze the suggestions to quit from smoking habit.
