Balekambang Park
 

       After the Darkness comes the Light, this expression proper to state Balekambang Park. This park was previously an infamous slum area located in northern part of Solo. Because of the reforesting program, it has been turned into a new tourist resort similar to the Bogor Botanical Gardens in West Java, but on a much smaller scale. This harmonious chic tourism place lies in area of 9.8 hectares at Jalan Ahmad Yani.
       In earlier times, Balekambang Park was named as Partini Tuin and Partinah Bosch. It was built by Kanjeng Gusti Adipati Mangkunegoro VII on 1921 to show his respect to her two daughters. That is why this park was formerly separated into two areas. The first area was named Partini Tuin which is meant Partini Park and the second area was named Partinah Bosch which is meant Partinah Pond. At the present, both of those areas are known as Balekambang Park.
        Balekambang Park is accomplished with various kinds of facilities such as children’s playing area, area for riding bike, and swimming pool. Moreover, there are some buildings such as Bale Apung which is usually used by Mangkunegaran families for meeting, Bale Tirtayasa, amphitheater, art gallery, and building for outdoor theater.
       You can trace Balekambang Park to feel the coolness of the royal ambience. You can take a rest on available chairs while hearing the birds chirrup and the sound of water flowing in a small stream. Furthermore, you can also enjoy a variety of art performances, such as traditional music, ketoprak, leather puppet, and others cultural activity.
